Discovering Your Soul
Empowers Your Self

What Is Birth Chart Discovery
As Above, So Below.

We are born at a given moment, in a given place and, like vintage years of wine, we have the qualities of the year and of the season of which we are born.
Astrology does not lay claim to anything more.

Do you ever feel like your personality is full of contradictions?
You may be a shy introvert, but yet deep within, you do crave the spotlight, longing to be adored by many.
You have a fierce desire to live a bold, adventurous life, yet you struggle to step outside your "safe" zone.
You often feel intense anger, but then show deep kindness and compassion when you witness others in pain.
You believe in love, yet find yourself pulling away when you're in a relationship ... ...
All these contradictions often left you feeling confused and agonised, wondering, "Who am I really?"
This constant inner conflict can be overwhelming, making it hard to understand your true self.
If you know astrology and understand your birth chart, you’ll realise that this complexity is simply a reflection of what it means to be human. Our contradictions, our desires, and our struggles are all part of the natural makeup of who we are.
Concept of Birth Chart
The concept of the birth chart, also known as the natal chart, emerged as a way to map the positions of the planets and stars at the exact moment of an individual's birth. In ancient times, charts were manually mapped by hand, and the positions of stars were monitored with the naked eye, using primitive astronomical tools.
Fast forward to the 20th century, astrology has evolved into a data-driven, tech-powered practice, integrating the advancements of modern space technology. Today, the precision and insights offered by astrology are more accessible than ever, blending ancient wisdom with cutting-edge astronomy.
Today, there are many free online software tools such as astro-seek that allow you to easily generate your birth chart within milliseconds. To create an accurate birth chart, all you need is your birth date, time, and location. For example, 17 Sep 1974, 2:30am, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
These tools will calculate the positions of the planets and stars at the exact moment of your birth, offering you a unique insight into your astrological blueprint.
To help you visualise, let's use the birth chart of Frida Kahlo to illustrate.

Frida Kahlo
An Iconic Mexican Painter

Using her birth data: 6 July 1907 08:30am, Mexico City, Mexico, this is how her birth chart looks like. (This chart is generated using the free software astro-seek.com, one of my favourite. Note that birth chart settings are customisable. This is a very basic version using Whole Sign house system). For those new to birth charts, the array of glyphs and astrological symbols can be quite overwhelming. To navigate your birth chart more easily, starting with memorising these symbols is a good first step. The chart is illustrated as a wheel divided into 12 segments known as houses, each representing different aspects of life such as career, health, and marriage. The numbering of these houses is indicated in the innermost circle. On the outer circle, you'll find the 12 zodiac signs. In Frida Kahlo's chart, her first house is in Leo, followed by Virgo in the second house, Libra in the third, and so on. Inside each house, you'll see the planetary placements. For example, you'll notice a cluster of planets in houses 6, 11 and 12. Perhaps, you might be more familiar with terms like "star sign" or "horoscope," which actually refer to the zodiac sign of your Sun. In Frida Kahlo's case, if you locate the Sun (☉), you'll find it in the 12th house in the sign of Cancer. Hence, her "star sign" or "sun sign" is Cancer! Her Sun in Cancer, located in the 12th house with Neptune (♆), Jupiter (♃), and the North Node (☊), highlights her mysterious and emotional personality traits. Internally complex and lucid, she powerfully expressed these through her iconic emotive self-portraits. While outwardly strong, she harbors profound vulnerability and fragility, shaped by lifelong physical pain stemming from a devastating bus accident at 18. This destiny seemed to accentuate the striking contrasts within her persona, which ultimately fueled her unique artistic talent. I find her persona deeply fascinating—a rebel ahead of her time in an era of conformity. She was truly one in a million. Though she's no longer with us, we can certainly glimpse into her character, inner world, and dramatic life journey through her birth chart. I hope you get a basic idea of how a birth chart looks like and how we can interpret through the different elements of the chart.

The ten planets in our birth chart represent this multi-faceted nature within us. The Sun and Moon, known as the luminaries, reveal who we are at the core of our soul. The personal planets—Mercury, Venus, and Mars—guide how we act and behave. The social planets, Jupiter and Saturn, indicate our growth and limitations. Then, the outer planets—Uranus, Neptune and Pluto—constantly throw us curveballs, fueling our transformation.
The twelve houses in our birth chart show us the areas of life and recurring themes that we are naturally drawn to, where much of the drama unfolds.
The zodiac signs and aspects further deepen the flavours and nuances of these influences, adding richness and complexity to the unique expression of our birth chart.
Our birth chart is like our entire autobiography compressed into one big chart.

Origin of Astrology
Since the dawn of time, humanity has been searching for the meaning of life, striving to understand our purpose and place in the universe. Who would have guessed that the answers have been written in the sky all along?
Astrology dates back thousands of years, with its origins rooted in ancient civilisations such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, and Greeks. Early astrologers observed the movements of celestial bodies and their correlations with earthly events, leading to the development of a system to predict and understand human behaviour.
Astrology was not only used by the elites and royalty but also by civilians to guide their daily decisions, from choosing the right time to plant crops to making personal choices. Kings and rulers, in particular, consulted astrologers to determine the most auspicious times for war, coronations, and key decisions that would shape their kingdoms.
Ancient beliefs in the power of the gods meant that astrology was seen as a way to align their actions with divine favour, ensuring success and stability for their reigns.
